The AHF and the AHML have partnered to train and certify local fisherfolk as scuba divers. The training is designed to switch fishermen away from destructive fishing practices (such as spearfishing) towards a more sustainable means of living. Community members will be given the opportunity to assist with conservation and monitoring activities within the East Portland Fish Sanctuary and also as scuba diving and snorkeling guides through our ecotourism operations.
