deniseDenise is a Marine Biologist with 10 years of experience. Before joining AHF, Denise worked on various coral and seagrass restoration projects, by establishing and maintaining coral and seagrass nurseries in Discovery Bay, Jamaica. Denise and the team developed a new technique for rehabilitating eroding seagrass beds which was successfully tested in Trelawny, Jamaica. They also outplanted over 1000 coral fragments on Discovery Bay reefs to create coral gardens. Her international work includes environmental impact assessments in Roatan, seagrass monitoring in Cayman and benthic reef assessments in Montserrat.

She has a B.Sc. in Environmental Biology (Double Major) and a M.Phil. in Marine Biology from the University of the West Indies with a focus on echinoderm population dynamics.

“I am excited to work to improve the state of our marine ecosystems through restoration and rehabilitation, and to explore an area that has not been previously studied in Jamaica.” – Denise Henry 2016
